Arnolds Bagel Best in the City 2005, City-lehti
The City-lehti magazine once again asked its readers to vote for the best things in the city.
The readers of City-lehti voted Arnolds Bagel Best in the City. How can a Finnish donut chain’s water pretzels taste better than it’s cousins on the other side of the pond? We traveled to New York for a bagel study visit and figured we can do even better bagels, tells Tero Lassila at Arnolds. We don’t fill the bagels in advance, but make them in front of the customer’s eyes. The customers can choose which fillings they want themselves, and it’s the real stuff. In other words no ready-made pastries. It’s easy to choose between eight pre-designed filling combinations, from cold smoked salmon to reindeer. A bagel with filling costs a bit over four euros. It's said that Harri Syrjänen had his finger in the taste game. Arnolds won’t give any comments on the chef’s part in the bagel soup. But maybe the taste speaks for itself.
